Course Description
Some of the most compelling courtroom dramas in film are rooted in actual legal proceedings that reshaped constitutional law, civil rights, criminal justice, and the American legal system. This six-hour CLE explores six landmark cases portrayed in acclaimed films, examining the historical events, legal issues, courtroom strategies, and lasting impact of each trial. Rather than critiquing the movies themselves, the program uses them as a gateway to understanding the real litigation, the lawyers who tried the cases, and the legal principles that continue to influence modern practice. Participants will gain practical insights into trial advocacy, constitutional law, civil litigation, criminal defense, evidentiary challenges, ethics, and persuasive storytelling while revisiting some of cinema's most memorable courtroom portrayals.
