06/11/2026 & 06/12/2026, From Deal to Lawsuit: A Shotgun Approach to Beginning Your Legal Journey

*Please read below for information on how to get your Zoom link if you purchase a webinar.  You will NOT be emailed a link automatically.  You must fill out the very short Zoom form to get your link after purchasing any webinar from us. Freestone does not have the ability to link to Zoom automatically. Please note that the “success” page from Zoom doesn’t always display in Freestone correctly after you fill out the Zoom form and you will get some kind of “refused to connect” message. Please check your email to see if you got your link because 99% of the time, Zoom does capture the information, the success page just doesn’t populate right.

Course Description
Embark on a transformative journey through the world of law with "From Deal to Lawsuit," an immersive two-day CLE designed for new lawyers eager to learn the essentials of transactional practice and dispute resolution. In a profession where law touches every facet of life—especially in the high-stakes arena of business—your role as a legal counselor demands an understanding of how to turn clients' lifelong dreams into enduring realities. We begin by embracing the noble truth that lawyers are dream realizers, stewards of trust whose professional guidance shapes futures, reinforcing the ethical imperative to deliver competent, client-centered advice. From there, we'll explore the foundational steps of deal formulation, negotiation, and formation, equipping you with practical tools to structure agreements that safeguard aspirations while navigating common pitfalls like ambiguous terms or overlooked risks. Once the deal is memorialized in a contract, the course shifts to the inevitable: breaches and breakdowns, dissecting typical failure points and empowering you to advise on strategic options—whether forgiving and forging ahead, pursuing specific performance, seeking damages, or opting for mediation over litigation. Culminating in a candid look at the litigation lifecycle, from pleadings to trial, we'll demystify the process and emphasize rigorous cost-benefit analysis, ensuring you can guide clients through disputes with clarity, confidence, and a commitment to efficient resolutions that preserve relationships and resources.

All Terms and Conditions

Please visit https://onlinecles.com/terms-conditions/.

How to Register with Zoom

  2. Click on "My Courses" in the left hand blue column.

  3. Click on the webinar you wish to register for from your list of “Purchased CLE Programs”.

  4. Fill out the short Zoom registration sheet and click on "Register" to complete.

  5. You will then receive an email from Zoom, which will have your personal link to access the webinar.

  6. PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes the success page from Zoom doesn't display right in the window on our website (by Freestone Learning Management System), please check your email, including your spam/junk folder for your Zoom email, as 99% of the time, your registration was caught by Zoom and the email was sent. If you haven’t received the email within an hour, please contact our office at info@comedianoflaw.com and we will have Zoom resend it or help you register with Zoom.

  7. Please note you will use the same Zoom link for both days of this webinar.

Important Information Regarding Registration

  1. Please do not wait until 2 minutes before the webinar to register with Zoom if possible, as you cannot log in until you get the email from Zoom and while email is usually instantaneous, we all know that isn’t always the case.

  2. You must be watching the webinar in order to get credit.  Most states accredit webinars differently than other formats and in order to get webinar credit, you must be watching, not just listening using the audio only link.

  3. There will be poll questions every hour, as many states require them.  If you don’t answer the poll question and your state requires them, we can’t award credit for that hour.  The poll questions are NOT obscure, as Joel always announces them before he runs them, and he reads them out loud.  If your state requires you answer them, please don’t miss them.  Please note that you will not be able to answer poll questions if you are using an audio only link, which is another reason you need to be WATCHING (not just listening to audio only version) the video presentation.

Written Materials

Written materials are available in your COL account after you have purchased a webinar.

  1. Log in to your Comedian of Law account

  2. Click on "My Courses" in the blue column on the left

  3. Find the webinar in the "Purchased CLE Programs" section and click on it

  4. The written materials will then be under "Downloadable Materials"

How to Get Credit for the Webinar

  1. All webinar certificates are done by hand, so you will not get them when the webinar is over.  We have to cross reference your log in and log out times and your poll questions to figure out how much credit you earned.

  2. You will receive your certificate of attendance within two weeks of the webinar and it will be sent to the email address you used when you registered with Zoom for the webinar.

  3. The bar information you enter into Zoom is the bar information that will be on your certificate of attendance. Please be sure that information is correct.

  4. We cannot submit attendance to states that we did not have the webinar approved in. We also do not produce certificates of attendance for states that the webinar was not approved in, without a special request. If you want one with another state info on it, please let us know by email at info@comedianoflaw.com. Please note that the certificate will only note the additional bar information, no other information will change as the course wasn’t approved in the state.

  5. If you are submitting your COL hours to another state (that COL didn’t have prior approval in) and they request a timed agenda, course description and/or speaker biography, please let us know by email at info@comedianoflaw.com and we will be happy to send you that information.

  6. Comedian of Law will report to all states that the course was approved in, that are provider report states.  If your state is a self-reporting state (like FL, IA or MO for example), we will not report your hours .  Hours are usually reported to states right before certificates of attendance are emailed.

  7. If you miss part of the webinar, you will not get credit for that time period. Please note that we are not able to provide an on-demand link for you to watch the part you missed. Most states do not accredit webinars and on-demands as the same type of CLE and almost all states require that each mode of delivery be approved separately. Remember, we don't make the rules, we just have to follow them.
